Default 002 line inputs 1-4

Hi, sorry if i've missed this somewhere else.

Is it possible to set inputs 1-4 on a 002 rack for line input +4? I'm going from a desk into 1-4 using balanced 1/4 inch jacks and am getting heaps of distortion even though set to line. no probs with 5-8 using the same setup and set to +4.

cheers,

Matt

If you stick a 1/4" through inputs 1-4 they 'are' going through the pre-amps and those pre-amps aren't that good.

The specs are on this page:

002

They have the same listed "max input levels" but they do have different specs, including dynamic range, presumably because of the preamps. You are using them with the line/mic switches set to line, right?

Yeah, they're set to line with the gain down as far as it will go but they distort. Is there a way to bypass the gain on inputs

there's no way to bypass the pre-amp of those inputs, even with the LINE switch toggled.

It's really annoying, I had the same problem. I use 5-8 for the LINE inputs and occasionally 1-4 for mic inputs - but, as you probably know, they're not that good.

Only other option I can think of, is to perhaps purchase another unit that can connect via the ADAT input.

Lemme know if you find/think of another way!
