Verizon FIOS email & AOL users

Need some help or commiseration at least. Since at least 8PM US eastern today the AOL email server has been down and I'm wondering if it's just here in NJ or more widespread. FIOS stopped providing email service and farmed it out to AOL some months back. I've yet to see the server go down like this. Everything else on the internet and my phone & TV (all on FIOS) are working okay. Mac Mail just spins it's wheels and if I go to login directly to the server like I've done many times in the past it comes back with a server not found. No 404 or any other code - just this on an otherwise blank Firefox page:
"Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at login.aol.com."

Does the same thing in Safari so it's not FF having heartburn.

Calling Verizon does no good because they say they have no control over what AOHell does.

Additional info:
AOL itself is okay and can get to their site no problem. It's just that when I go to login or go to the email it isn't working.

That's really quite marvelous. To think people still have aol.

Reminds me of the days where I would log on and wait up to 75 minutes for Neopets to load. Those were good times.

AOL isn't my isp - that's still Verizon. AOL only does Verizon's email service. Anyways it's back up this morning.
