5.1 novice help

i am helping out polish the almost finished sound edit for a freinds movie
i am set up for just stereo as this is mainly an audio suite
the film is in 5.1surround they are happy for me to learn
as i go as they ran out of budget months ago!
i have mixed and recorded many albums, etc but have never
even set up for 5.1 any tips where to start?
any usueful sites thread etc will help greatly
