ptools, reason and NI

hi all first time post, long time mac user

after months of a unhappy transition for cubase vst to cubase sx ( the sound quality is just not good enuff )
i finally bit the bullet and upgraded to pro tools
i am trying it on my laptop first but have ordered an HD sys for the main studio pooter
i am running reason ( rewire) and many NI apps such as reaktor kontakt etc
and have the latest updates for everything but am already getting usb buffer messages
tryed altering the buffers etc but no joy
i can run cubase sx with reason, reaktor, kontact b4 and abysnth open with no problems at all
but ptools ground to a halt
so any tips pointers hints would all be welcome
