Default Sapphire Radeon 9200SE stuck at minimum resolution

Hi all,

I just received my new PC hardware last evening...

ASUS A7V600
Sapphire Radeon 9200SE AGP
512Mb DDR PC3200
AMD Barton 2600+

I was running an A7V133, 1.33Ghz AMD, with Win98. I simply replaced the mother boards and restarted the computer with the new video card (no 001). After loading the drivers for everything, I started to adjust the resolution from the 640 x 480 to a higher resolution, but the slider would not move. I then re-ran the driver installation CD that came with the card. It allowed me to change the resolution, but when the PC was restarted, I received a message stating that there was something wrong with the adapter and I would not be able to adjust anything (paraphrased as I am not at the PC now). I then downloaded what was thought to be the latest driver, installed it, re-started the PC, but now when I make a change, it locks the computer up on restart (hence my thought that the driver may not have been the corect one).

Has anyone run into this little problem? What was/is the solution?

CE

OK, so I did a few things that seemed to correct the problem. I am not sure which one did it, but I will tell you what I did.

1. I reset the Extended System Configuration.
2. I removed the Display Adapters
3. I removed ALL ATI software using the Add/Remove Programs.
4. I then reinstalled the ATI drivers (only the drivers nothing else) usign the installation disk that came with the video card.

FWIW, there were several reboots during the above steps.

I can now adjust the resolution. Next, in goes the digi card!

Hope this helps somone in the future.
