Artist Control screen question..

Does anyone know if the Control's screen, if left on over a period of a couple days or even several days of non-use, will cause a 'burn-in,' of the existing display, kind of like what happens if you don't use a screen saver on a computer?

If this is a question about Artist Control (which I think it is) and not the Control App then this thread should be moved to the Artist series section.

The Artist Control uses an LCD screen. LCDs do not have burn-in issues since they don't contain phosphors or equivalent chemistry that can burn-in.

LCDs use crystals that either block light or allow light to pass-through. A backlight is behind the LCD and as the crystals align, pixels are either lit-up or darkened.

LCDs occasionally suffer from an effect called persistence. This persistence looks similar to a burn-in but is not permanent. If a very bright image is shown consistently, the crystals can align in one direction even when powered-off. This is solved by bringing up another display that causes the crystal alignment to change.

While it isn't possible to bring up a static-y screen with the Artist Control, running the surround panner for a while should eliminate persistence if it occurred.

However, I can't think of any of the Artist Control displays that would likely cause persistence.

So, to answer your question, no burn-in (not physically possible) and persistence is unlikely and correctable.
