Quicktime as midi output device
I am using PTLE on a Mac Powerbook G4, OS 10.3.6
In the old days on OS9, I could connect the MIDI output from PTFree to the Quicktime synth via OMS for a quick and dirty playback of my MIDI tracks with all the generic MIDI voices. Can I have the MIDI output of PTLE run the Quicktime synth under OS 10.3? How? I understand that CoreAudio has a synth that some MIDI editors use. Could I route PTLE MIDI to that? Any help would be greatly appreciated! zuff |

Re: Quicktime as midi output device
I am searching the website for this exact topic. I found this unanswered post and thought I would bring it back from the dead in case anyone has a quick answer!
Thanks.

Re: Quicktime as midi output device
nor QT synth or advice internal sounds will come out thru core manager,
an for the QT synth is not posible to use it in like in OS9. what do you want it for anyway? but you can put your midi file into itunes an import the audio it creates into pt, better, use the smpltnk le you got for free, if you don't have any external synth. cheers.

Re: Quicktime as midi output device
I didn't get sampletank with my Mbox. I bought it a few years ago. Am I missing someting?
I don't have an external synth. I am looking into getting the M-Audio Keystation and from what I understand it has no sounds in it. If my computer already has a software synth in it, can I use the keyboard to make music outside of ProTools? I just want the darn thing to sound so I can learn to play paino. I use ProTools for post mostly. Thanks for your help!

the solution for some might be Sampletank or another RTAS synth however this only raises the CPU load when muliple track counts are required. ...anyone another possibilty.. bds

Re: Quicktime as midi output device
for start, sorry for the link, forgot it was the japanese link,
with smpltnk you got 16 midi channels, and you can route each to a diferent sound. maybe you should take a look at this

Re: Quicktime as midi output device
Conversing in two threads
Sure, although virtual sources here, I am having trouble with, have you had any luck rerouting these?? I have contacted Nico Wald ("SubtleSoft" MidiPipe) for advice and am hopeful of a little more insight soon.. Any further ideas.. bds
