Default Digi1analogue outputs via adat berhringer ada8000

Has anyone used a Behringer ada8000 converter with a digi 001?
I have a Good old analogue mixer and lots of outboard gear so I want to get as many outputs from the computer to the console as possible so I can process them via these and save CPu power for what plugs I really need. Apparently the ada 8000 connects via the adat lightpipe on the pci card and I wanna know if anyones actually got it to work?
Cheers. [email protected]

Works great here, but the quality of the Behringer isnt that good. But to me it works up to par. No clicks or other weird behaviour. The micpre's are very very silent (as in not noisy), but they are brittle....

If you are using it as AD and DA, i suggest you keep the clocking on internal inside ptle, and set the ADA8000 to slave/ADAT in, to prevent you from any samplerate mismatch trouble. This way the Behringer follows the settings of ptle.

Have a listen at this song

I recorded it with an adat and the ada8000 through my soundcraft spirit sx. Is IS a true and genuine live-recording.

I hear some stuff going on in the high-end. It sounds brittle. I think that among other things the ada8000 is to blame.

Ofcourse an old 16 bit blackface adat isnt much help either on wich i recordid it, but i am not gonna drag a PC with me on a live gig in the home of a motorbike gang...;-)

I think it all depends on price/quality stuff.

Yes...mixing on consoles is better as mixing in the box. But to get those better results you need a very good (read: expensive) mixer, and very good (read: expensive) ad/da vonverters. I dont think you will see a change in the good when doing this with the ada8000 and a soundcraft spirit or mackie 1604vlz. You will need the expensive mixers (neve, soundcraft, studer etc.) and expensive AD/DA (apogee, RME, Lavry, Nytek etc.). Ofcourse mixing over a console has advantages. No latency issues when using outboard gear, true hands on mixing, eq avaulable on every channel by default...

But all in all i think you are better of mixing in the box untill you have such gear. I am not putting you down in any way (i have the ada8000 myself...), just blurting out what i think of it all. I still feel my quality is better when mixing in the box because of lo-quality ad/da and mixer (soundcraft spirit folio sx 20)

Has a freind recently purchase one. he ended up getting three total. first one wwas DOA. 2nd and thrid ones both had no working channel 7. we decided to test drive #3 anyway, and found ti to be a step down from the 001 we sere interfacing it with. given the poor qc control, it's typical cheap, easily broken Behringer construction, and their rep, he exchanged it for the Alesis line level A-D and is very happy.

the same freind went through 9 behringer truth monitors, not finding a decent match in the entire 9.
