A Little More Advice Please....

Hi! I recently asked a question on here regarding my old g3 450 and using PT 6 with it. I received some very helpful advice and following some of that I have picked up a cheap old G4 DA 466 via ebay. My next question relates to CPU upgrades. There's a dual 533 CPU for sale for about US$100 which I'd have to add shipping costs. Would this be worth it or should I stick with the 466 CPU until I can save for a dual 1.8 GHz (probably a year away).

I think you'd be better off waiting. The performance step up from 466 to 533 is not worth the money IMHO. Dual processors are great--I converted my dual 450 to dual 1.2GHz quite a few years ago and still use it regularly.

So even if it was a dual 533 it wouldn't make much difference to PT 6?

You'd be able to use 99% of one of the duals, as opposed to 85% of a single with PTLE 6+. With processor speeds that similar I don't think you'd see much real-world improvement for the price.
Is your current processor a single or Dual? I don't think you can convert a single processor model to a dual with an upgrade. I was lucky to have a dual to begin with. If you already have a dual, moving to PTLE 6+ would be a good first step, you'll get to use 15% more of your processors right away.
