Default Motorized Faders?

Hey guys,
I'm looking into purchasing a control surface for my DIGI 001 PT 6.2.2, and right now the front runner is the JL Cooper CS-32. My question is are "motorized faders" something i should be looking for (what exactly do they do)?

Also if anyone has some good tips on control surfaces that offer superb no-latency..pleace let me know as thats the #1 thing im looking for (hopefully under $1K). Thanks for all replies

Also, Does the fact that it has 20mm Faders a bad thing when compared to the Mackie Control Universal which has 100mm Penny+ Giles optical touch faders? As you can tell im a rookie at this and some of the terminology is throwing me off...any help is appreciated.

HI,

20mm Faders are a little tooo short for my opinion, since you have to move very precise to get teh level you want, so impulsive movement is an issue.

my unmotorized doepfer Regelwerk has 24 60mm faders and that is acceptable.
I am used to work with Yamaha 03d, too so I know the advantage if big faders.

How about CM Labs MotorMix the have 8 100mm morotized faders and goes for $1000 (even cheaper on ebay) and can switch banks eg. you can control more than 8 controls in a row but you can link the consoles later on fo a 32 faderbank.

The JLC CS32 can´t be beat for the price however, especially the midi version, but I thing is better for live controlling than decicate mixing.

best
