If memory serves me correctly, When 5.1 came out it was only free to those people that bought 5.0 after 5.1 was announced. So it's very likely that PT 6 will only be free for those who bought PT|Mix (5.1.3) or PT|HD (5.3) in October or later. Although, as someone who just upgraded to PT|HD at the end of June, I will be a little peeved if they charge me for the upgrade. I mean, come on, anyone that upgraded to HD should get this upgrade free. But I ain't holding my breath...

Word from my Audio guy is that it is free. Now that may only be for folks who buy a system between now and the release. But I know that when I upgrade to HD (next week) I'll get 6.0 for free when it releases. Not that I'm going to install 6.0 right away but...

I had assumed it would be free for HD owners. But you bring up a good point: Apple is charging me full price for Jaguar for this G4 that's just a few months old, which is VERY annoying. Hopefully that's not the case with Digidesign. I hope.
