Re: Error installing required components...PT 11
Hi,
I encountered this exact problem on my friend's system. For him complaints are same as stated in this thread: 10.3.6 was working without any problem but Pro Tools 11 HD was not giving stated error message. Then I came across this forum post, but there wasn't any soluition available so I tried to find the problem myself. After some checking I think i found the culprit. This problem is obviously an I/O problem since error on system.log was related to copy/read error. So I watched the fs_usage logs of Pro Tools. Then I realized that Volume Name of my friend had UTF-8 characters. Luckily after removing these characters protools started without problem. So my suggestion is to check fs_usage as root on terminal. Check the lines with plugin reading. Right after you might see some strange <8b> hex strings in logs. If you see that, you can fix it by unmounting your volume which includes the plugins and rename the volume name. Easy as that. Just wanted to post the solution over here, in case some of you had a similar problem as well. Last edited by bariscicek; 06-27-2013 at 08:54 AM. Reason: grammar and typos |

Re: Error installing required components...PT 11
Unbelievable! I just renamed my main drive which has Pro Tools installed on from "Macintosh HD" to "Mac HD" and bang, it's working just fine...
I'm surprised that bug passed under the radar considering it's the default name for the drive... Thanks a lot Bariscicek! You're the hero of the day :) |

Re: Error installing required components...PT 11
Anyone else has tried to rename the HD? If it worked for me I'm pretty sure it should work for the rest of us...
