Re: 2018.5?

What I notice is what makes pt unstable is with some plugins. When I demoed some waves plugins like the H reverb the stability goes wild, so out they go. Anyway I use hardware reverbs (still have to hear a plug-in reverb that equals hardware)

Re: 2018.5?
I know, but still yet to listen a better plugin reverbs as my tc4000 and lexicon pcm 91, and they go cheap on the cpu also 😜

After a serious test drive of those plugins I'd be curious to know what it is about the TC4000 and PCM91 that still sound better to your ears. And this isn't even approaching some of the other options less related to TC and Lex which are excellent. |

On the other hand, spending the buck on reverbs with these in rack is a no for me right now, and as for recall-able, I simply print them. And on other reason for me is they don't run on CPU power as reverbs plugins consume the most. Hey, but that's me, I work great and fast like that and I like it. Pro tools runs smooth and clients are happy.

Re: 2018.5?
The Lex plugin is pulled from the PCM96, which is *similar* to the PCM91 but not the same. I'd say the Lexicon plugin and PCM91 are also similar in quality with, perhaps, a slight edge going to the PCM91 for its dimensional depth, as you mentioned, and also its realism. The plugin can be a little cold and sterile.
But when Michael got out from under the uncreative constrictions of Harman and was able to rethink reverb, he made substantial improvements and released brand new products. And not only do they sound great, they're also very CPU-friendly, because he not only understands acoustics but also coding. Very well. There's efficiency to the point that I never think about the hit they're giving my computer. It's just never a concern and I have 4 of them in my template. What taxes the CPU the most are effect-heavy VI's like u-he synths and Output libraries where a lot of mod/delay/pitch-shifting are being applied in realtime. Regarding the 4000 vs the 6000 -- you're right and they can run the same algorithms in stereo. And with the Relab plugin you can get a convincing 4000/6000. Some have done blind tests and can't tell them apart. To my ears, the software sounds like the hardware (which is actually software). |

Re: 2018.5?
+1- Really like the Exponential audio reverbs.
