Unhappy Audio drops during playback

Hey, I have searched for a couple of days on the forum and on the Avid site and couldnt find anything that helped me fix my Audio issue.

What happens is that during playback at any random moment audio just drops from my Mbox 2 Pro but the playback continues. Just no sound. When i stop the playback some of the trackmeters are lit and I'm not able to start playback again unless i go to the harware tab and select internal clocking for my mbox even tho its the clocksource i always use. When I have reselected the clocksource I can hear the end of the audio from where I stopped the playback.

I have tried:

changing the firewirecable
changing the firewire port on my mbox
Reinstalling PT 10
Updating the Mbox 2 Pro Drivers

Cant find any firmware updates for the Mbox 2 Pro (Just for the USB Mbox2 series)

I have also tried playing thru Asio Drivers with my Creative Fatalaty Sound Card but that just distorts and lags, but no loss of playback just rly crappy playback.

Thanks inn Advance.

So ur SSD has the o/s on it.....(off topic how much did u pay for it)

I am assuming that ur D drive (Prod) is where u are recording to??

The main problem I see with that is its only 8mb of cache - !!! That means the bandwidth of the data transfer rate may be causing ur issue.

To be honest I didn't pay attention to any other detail besides ur audio dropping out - I wouldn't think u should see a problem except with more than 8/10 tracks worth of data (depending on ur buffer settings in ur playback engine)

I updated my HD's awhile back with WD 1T's 64mb cache and I have been able to lower my buffer settings and run stable as well

I would start there bro - swap another one of ur drives with a larger cache on it - see how it performs

I wouldn't go lower than 32 personally - and as u should know no Green Eco friendly drives are recommended - for the same reasons - data thruput issues

Let us know

I think I paid a little shy of a 100€,

I'm using my E: drive atm. for the projects. Becaouse of the cach. I'm not recordig atm just editing. I also sometimes get a clocksync error. But I have used the interface alot earlier and never had this issue before i switched to PT10.

So switch to the aiso for the playback engine.....That way you can eliminate the interface as being part of the problem.....

So what were your buffer settings? While editing......

Tried everything from 200ms-1000ms, the ASIO one works but only for a little while, then it starts so distort the audio. I have tried to disable it to no avail...

I'll try to diable the WiFi.
