Default Question about Plug-Ins folder

Pro-T Famly!!!

How do I organize a given Plug-In so that it appears under a certain "Plug-In type" folder when I search for plug-ins? In other words, what i wanna do is have my T-Racks EQ Plug-in appear under the "EQ" folder when I hit the plug-in icon on a channel. Right now it appears under the "Other" folder.

Thanks PT fam

You can choose to view plugs by type, manufacturer, or as a list, but I don't know that you can assign the categories yourself - unless somebody can correct me ?

That's a good question. How does Pro Tools determine the type of plug-in it is. And in this case it puts the T-Racks EQ in the wrong folder. Maybe it will be a new feature in the future to choose the folder you want your plug-ins in ?

Oh, please, no! Plugin manufacturer should be able to set the category correct. If the company fails in such a primitive setting, I wouldn't trust the processing either.

Yep- the dev has to set the flags in the code for catagory and manufacturer sorting. If it is not done correctly with a certain plugin, you would need to contact the developer of that plug-in to find out why it does not sort properly. I would verify you have th elatest build of the plug-in you find not sorting "properly" first though...it is very rare to find one in PT 7 and up that is not...

I see nothing wrong with being able set your own catagories for Plug-ins.... or which plug-ins go where.... You could even set catagories like "favorites" or "really cool new plug-ins" Why not ? It's just a Menu List of Plug-Ins.

you can set your favorites. Hold down apple as you go thru the list. It will add it to the main folder before all the subfolders.

Other than a favorites thing, I don't really know why anyone would want to be able to assign different categories. Why put an EQ in the dynamics menu. thats just confusing.
