Default Dual monitors on LE/older G4 -possible?

Howdy, does anyone know if it's possible to run two monitors on Protools LE with an older G4?
Someone suggested I need to get some kind of card to plug in?
Any thoughts?
thanks
stephen

You need a new video card like the ati 8500 or the matrox that offers dual video out.

just get an old pci graphics card from http://www.owcomputing.com
I run dual monitors all my systems and unlike a PC we can mix and match agp and pci video cards.

You can get a 128 bit, 8megs of VRAM ultimate rez video card for 40 bones.

If I'm not mistaken, Digi has very specific requirements regarding graphics cards. See the compatability pages. Some guys have no problems, others have nightmares. I'm running a B&W G3 with a Rage Orion card which Digi gave the green light on. The G4's were different though (I forget why).

Someone posted this info a while back and I saved it because I have a G4 waiting in the wings for a dual monitor setup as well.

An optimized card design leads to less traffic and interrupt latency on the PCI bus. This means that MPDD+ is the only video card that works with digidesign ProTools, even in a fully equipped system in a Magma PCI expansion box. MPDD+ consumes only 1 Watt of power, has no fan that will wear out and cause the card to fail, no added noise, no added heat that lower at the stability of your entire Mac. Only one Extension comes with MPDD+ for 2D acceleration. Fewer Extensions mean fewer system conflicts. And last but not least, the MPDD+ costs less than other video cards.

Available at smalldog.com

Good luck.

Villagetronic, makes low bitrate cards. You need much bandwith for your 001 or TDM card(s).

I have a G4/350/AGP. I use the stock ATI AGP video card along with a PCI ATI Radeon card for multiple monitors. Never have had a single problem.

I would not suggest getting any Appian products. Digidesign highly recommended their card and it never worked at all for me. It was a nightmare.
