Default Clock issues with Alesis HD24

Here's the deal: I use an Alesis HD24 to track to, then I dump via lightpipe into Pro Tools, edit, then dump back to the HD24 to mix. Going into PT is fine, however, when trying to dump back to the HD24, there is a clock issue that causes pops. I have tried the following. 1. Set Pro tools clock to internal, HD24 clock source to Optical. 2. Pro Tools clock to ADAT, HD24 to internal. 3. Every concievable transport option even though I know its a clock issue. Am I going to have to get an external clock generator for these to pieces of gear to lock? Any insight or suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

Default Re: Clock issues with Alesis HD24

I have been doing some editing work for a producer in Nashville who works on a HD24. I have been using the Alesis FirePort to transfer the wav files from the HD24 to a folder on my harddrive and then import into PT. After editing/processing I export the files from PT as wav into a new folder and then transfer back to the harddrive of the HD24. There are a few thing to watch for when doing this; I consolidate all regions on a track and then make sure all the regions on tracks srart a "0" and trim all the tracks at an even point on the end. This insures that all the wav files I exprort from PTLE are the same size/length which makes the HD24 real happy when importing back to it. Also it helps to have the finished wav files named trk01.wav, trk02.wav, etc... Hope this helps..

Thanks for the info. I have had my eye on the Fireport, seems like the way to go. Thanks for the file tips as well. I was also thinking about implementing the network options on the HD24. Any expierience with the ethernet port? Thanks again for the tips.

I have not used the ethernet on the HD24, but have heard it is extremly "SLOW". With the FirePort I was able to export 24 trks on a 4 min song form the Alesis HD to a folder on my harddrive and then import/create a session on ProTools is less than 5 mins.
