Default Error 9129 H/W Buffer Size

Hello,

I use Pro Tools almost daily at my college radio station. We have Pro Tools in two production studios and we never had had any problems with it, until a few weeks ago. We started getting the following error message any time we would record, playback, or bounce;

“Audio processing is conflicting with other CPU tasks.
If this occurs often, reducing the "H/W Buffer Size" in the Playback
Engine Dialog may help prevent the problem. (-9129)”

I tried reducing the buffer size one step, then I got a message saying that I needed to increase the buffer size.

I have taken the following steps to try to fix the problem.

1. Installing SP 1 and 2. (These computers have never been hooked up to the internet)
2. Re-installing the driver for the processor (Suggested on the digidesign web page)
3. Deleting QuickTime (Suggested from a post on this web page)
4. I e-mailed digidesign (I have never tried getting tech support from them before, but I am not expecting quick or helpful information)

Nothing worked. If any one has ANY ideas I would love to hear them.

Thanks,
Paul

More info on your system would be very helpful, specifically your processor and chipset types, what types of drives you're using for recording and playback and any other relevant info.

You may also want to look at all the steps in the Win XP/ Pro Tools 6.x General Troubleshooting thread, as something there may help.

Have exactly the same problem- and no solutions after almost 3 weeks.
A friend suggested adding more RAM. Basically doubling it in my case. Anyone out there think this is a good idea or more money down the drain?

I've been receiving similar errors. -9092, -9093, etc. I just installed my mbox 2 and 7.4 and the first session I created which only contained four 16bit tracks and no plugins gave me multiple errors. Recording is impossible. I haven't hooked up my external hard drive yet because I want to make sure the system is stable first.

here is my system stats from sandra lite:

Default Re: Error 9129 H/W Buffer Size

I got an Mbox2 in August of 2007. I installed it on my laptop (1.2ghz cpu, 1g ram) and I got this error every few seconds. I couldn't get anything done at all.

So I convinced my wife to let me get a new laptop JUST FOR PROTOOLS and I spent over $2000 on it, with 4gigs of RAM, a fast AMD Turion64x2 processor, and all the highest upgrades possible.

I get the same errors. If I increase the buffer, I get the "decrease buffer" error instead.

Can anyone please help me?

With that said - you definitely need a qualified Firewire drive for recording and playback of your Pro Tools sessions. The internal drive is extremely unlikely to work.

Along with that, you may want to try all the steps in the Win XP/ Pro Tools 6.x/7.x General Troubleshooting thread, as some users have been able to work with Turion processors, even though they are known to be very problematic.

i have an identical problem 9129 error. i had sorted the problem out but it reoccurred. it basically involved uninstalling avg if i wanted to use protools and it worked for a good while then recently the problem started again. i have a dell dimension 3000 w/celeron r cpu 2.66 ghz. with 1 gb of ram. i have pro tools le 6.7 with mbox 1.
i reiterate pro tools has worked consistently for long periods but the error has returned. is there a long term fix for it? in desperation i have uninstalled all non essential software and uninstalled then reinstalled pro tools 6.7 to no avail. what can i do? help

Same problem here too. Just bought Mbox2 in hope to work with PT @home, cause it's our main tool in our school.

I use Win7 64bit, but as said, the problem appears with other OS's too. And even on Mac.

I'm quite frustrated, I spent 300€ (about 440 US dollars) to this device, and what did I get?
Pro Tools won't work and I can't even use my Mbox with any other softwares, like video&audio players.(Ok, I'm living in a hopes of this is going to change in near future, 'cause I have understood it's possible on WinXP and OS X, but not on Vista/7, right?

So, is only solution for both problems just buy Mac?
In student's budget 300€ is really really big amount of money, but what can I do.. Nothing, I registered the device in touch of PT Installation, so I can't even return my Mbox to dealer for getting my money back. And that really sucks.

And I have heard PT is "standard" in music business..
