Default Any M1 Mac users of 2021.6 with good results?

Subject says it all.
Please share your specific machine and audio-interface etc.

I'm using an M1 MBA, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD - Audient ID14 - nothing-special plug-in wise: WAVES, Toontrack, Soundtoys.

PT 2021.6 runs quite poorly - constant beachballs and UI glitches.

Can you open Activity Monitor and monitor your MEM and SSD, please? How much SWAP (if any) and how much (non-recording) DISK writes when you use PT (which both can result in freezes, esp. in a non-optimized Rosetta emulated environment?)

There is an excessive-write issue with M1 Macs (about 10-30x of Intel counterpart, mainly GPU for OpenCL calculations as in photo and video editing software, as it seems) and it is still not fixed (although 11.4 has addressed it partially; for non-photo/video apps.)

Just to be sure normal operation of latest PT release does not (erroneously) exceed the boundaries and limits of your system.

It appears the M1 SSD wear issue (which was never a real issue) is resolved. https://appleinsider.com/articles/21...macos-114-beta

My sessions aren’t that large: RAM and Disk cache usage is nominal.

As I said above, 11.4 *DOES NOT* resolve the issue; only partially. Unfortunately, it is downplayed by all major tech blogs. You can find updated test runs on YT which show clearly the problem. The tech journalists are seriously not up to the task anymore. They are inaccurate, babble everything others say, are dangerously biased esp. towards brands or big names in the scene, no scientific approach and even do not do the slightest bit of qualified research before posting. As a SW developer I am often shocked about so much nonsense.

But it I am happy to hear you don't experience those problems.

I am using a Macbook Air M1 with only 8 GB of Ram and 512 GB SSD. No Problems with PT and PT First 2021.3 and 2021.6. Performance was laggy until i deleted AVID Link. But i do this everytime. AVID Link 2021.6 crashed often. I don‘t use AVID Link anymore.

Everything incl Plugins under Rosetta is working great. The 2021.6 has better Memorymanagement For M1so i don‘t get any annoying messages about upgrade more Ram anymore

Unfortunately all 2021.6 PT Versions use only 4 cores of M1. Avid is aware of that and states that because of Rosetta2.

No wesr issues with SSD and i“m constantly shifting big blocks of VM‘s 20-30 GB from external to internal drive very often.

Call me a fanboy but what seems more lilkely:
- Apple has made *a billion* devices with A-series processors and internal SSDs that have no read/write issues but somehow this specific iteration reads/writes data at some insane rate completely at-odds with any actual process activity
- OR- the hoi polloi have found a massive flaw and there’s a conspiracy to downplay it?
Believe what you want.

I Have only one issue with my Macbook Air M1: When i disconnect my Apple Cinema Display and reconnect it sometimes it flickers. After pulling the Apple Usb-C to HDMI Connector several times it works again flawlessly.

I actually don't have any Apps or Plugins that don't work properly.

After using 30 Years PC with random crashes, blue screens, driver issues, kernel panics etc i shifted to mac about 10 years ago - and never never looked back.

I started with SL and aside from El Cap and Catalina i never had mayor problems. Big Sur and M1 is doing very good - you know i am a teacher for Multimedia Software and musician. I don't want to mess with issues. If it works - fine

No fanboy, no conspiracy - just my personal experience.
