Ok yeah, a friend also reccomended the SIIG cards. You seem to be leaning against not using firewire, reckon eSATA would be a better option or is firewire my best shot?

I would use E-sata over firewire, but since you're still on PT8, USB is not recommended.

Cheers for all your help mate, I've decided to go with putting my own external eSATA drive together so that I can get exactly what I want. Hopefully this should work out well - it's been reccomended by quite a few people as the fastest option.
