Default More than 4 partitions in XP?

I just jumped off the SCSI ship after my 80 GB Cheetah died. (Guess I was kinda pushed off the ship, huh?) Anyway I've been totally impressed with the 7200rpm firewire drive I bought as its replacement, handling the largest of my sessions without a hiccup. Anyway, I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to get more than four partitions out of this mammoth (160 GB) drive. I had my old drive split into eight partitions. Windows XP however won't let me get more than four out of this one. Are there any ways to get this to work. I guess I could move the drive to a Win98 machine and see if I could format it there, I just don't look forward to taking both machines apart to make the other one firewire capable just to format a drive. Anyone?

Default Re: More than 4 partitions in XP?

Hi! Dont know what is wrong. I have 5 partitions on one drive, Win XP Pro. Originally I used Control Panel->Admin Tools->Disk Management to do partitions above the primary I installed Win Xp on, but now use Partition Magic, as certain feqatures it offers appeal to me.

I have not used FireWire drives, so I cannot say if this is the reason for your trouble.

Thanks nikki, I figured it out (went the wrong way with my initial partition).
