Default My Solution to the Click Track Problem

Well, I'v come full circle with the click track problem and came up with a unique solution. First, my reaction to the ProTools MIDI click solution was the same as many others' reactions: It annoyed me that the click was not included in the headphone output of the mBox. So, based on some discussions in this group, I created a whole set of metronome wav loops, using FruityLooop, and I simply imported them as a track.

However, here is what I am doing now. I use a Sampson headphone amplifier so that all of my group members can listen at the same time. I discovered that this unit had two stereo link inputs, which allow audio from another device to be inserted into the primary headphone mix. So I now use the ProTools MIDI click feature and run from my laptop's headphone output to these inputs on the headphone amplifier. Everything is as I wanted it now. I can use the internal MIDI click (MIDI Channel 11, using the side stick sound) and have the mix in the mBox monitor. I'm happy now.

Kris

I hope your compensating for the MIDI/Audio latency otherwise edits on the grid are gonna be off the beat.

Given your situation you'd be much better off running an audio click from an audio track. You could then route the click track to a dedicated output and run that straight into your headphone distro amp. If you also need to hear it out of your monitor amps, simply assign the output of the track to two outputs (WINDOWS KEY+CLICK on a second output)

Marcus-always use sample accurate audio clicks

Personly I import a click sound to a track and aling it to the grid then copy it for the desired lenght of the song. I had problem in the past with the internal midi click option, it was not stable.
