Default Long Pause When I Hit Record/How Do I Fix????

i am using a mix3 with a mac quick silver 944mhz ....5.1.3 protools version.....when i record 11 drum tracks at once the little hand starts grabbing for a very long time,over 15 seconds before it goes into record.....even when i am recording one track ...there is a pause for a few seconds....what can i do to fix this????

Preferences, 'Record allocation' is likely set to 'Use All available Space' instead of specifying 10 minutes, or something reasonable...

That'll get you rolling much quicker.

In your prefs.. change the Open Ended Record Allocation to a value like 10 minutes.

On that vesion of PT, Mute Frees Voice makes the record delay longer. Turn it off and see if that helps.

You havent got the 2 bars checked in the transport window have you?

That has had me before as I am using a c24 and didnt have the transport window showing on the screen.

beside setting the allocate size as others said, you could also make a selection and then press record.
Optimize your HD. That won't solve the problem for long though.

OSX has this problem solved.
