Freeze at Initializing Audio Engine

From working through the cause of a freeze at Initializing Audio Engine (after selecting the HDX as the playback engine):
1. Run Digitest to see if the system passes
2. If you have an Avid Omni, reset to factory defaults (Setup button, press Monitor pot, rotate CW to RESET, press Monitor pot twice)
3. Uninstall all Avid software, including Eucontrol
4. Remove all traces of earlier PT installs, esp. earlier Digi audio engines. Uninstalling though Control Panel leaves folders with Digi audio engines.
5. Reinstall PT HD 11 or 12
6. If the freeze persists, replace mobo with mobo with Thunderbolt header, preferably TB2 (unless you can find an Gigabyte mobo in which HDX will work in a mobo PCIe slot; Avid's position is that HDX cards only work in mobo PCIe slots on certain HP Z stations), buy a full-length TB2 expansion chassis, like a Sonnet III-D, and use the HDX cards linked by TB2.

The slot population order should be, proceeding away from the CPU: video card, HDX card(s), nic or other host adapter. HD
