How to Reverse Automation Data in Pro Tools LE
I've recorded a pitch bend through a MIDI controller and saved the automation data into Pro Tools. Now I want to take that same pitch bend and reverse it. How do I do this?
I've copied and pasted the automation data, but I don't see any easy option to actually reverse the automation data. In other words, I want my audio sound to bend in the exact same way I recorded it, but down in pitch instead of up. Is there any option for this? Thanks, Orazio PT LE 7.3 Mbox2 mini |

Kind of like flipping the phase but for automation data?

Re: How to Reverse Automation Data in Pro Tools LE
My problem doesn't have to do with phase. I'm talking about taking ANY type of MIDI automation data (a pitch bend, a volume swell, etc.), selecting a certain section of it, and then being able to reverse all of the automation values.
So, what I really want to do is take a pre-recorded pitch bend, select it, copy and paste it onto a different section of the audio, and then select and reverse the pitch bend, so it bends down in the same way it bent up when I originally recorded it. Anyone have any thoughts on how to do this in Pro Tools? |

Re: How to Reverse Automation Data in Pro Tools LE
Now I'm confused, are we talking about MIDI or audio? I'ts simple in audio. In MIDI you can copy/paste, but I have never tried the reversing thing. Now I"m curious, I'll go look in the AM when I get back in to the studio.

I'm talking about MIDI automation, not audio. The pitch bend was recorded as MIDI automation data.

Re: How to Reverse Automation Data in Pro Tools LE
Here's another vote for reverse and invert automation commands. Could be implemented as a "paste special" type or could be its own command. Could also have audio suite for automation and midi.

Re: How to Reverse Automation Data in Pro Tools LE
Yeah, there needs to be some way to make a "mirror image" of the automation / MIDI.
I've often found times when I've done some automation moves on the left hand channel of a stereo track, that I'll want to make a mirror move on the right hand channel. |

Has there been any development along these lines?
An invert automation data would be good too! cheers RH |

Re: How to Reverse Automation Data in Pro Tools LE
Well it's a good idea but can't you just perform the automation in there with the wheel going the other way?
I mean....just adapt. Sometimes you just have to actually try and re-try something until you get it right. ...but it IS a good idea!
