Default Help need (possibly a stupid question)

Hello, I just joined this forum looking for some help...

For some reason Pro Tools will no longer start for me, every time i click on the dock icon it bounces a couple of times, then stops... and does nothing else.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling about 5 times, and Ive deleted all the preference files i could find.

Other (possibly useful) information:
It did have this same problem a few days ago, but started working again after i restarted the computer.
Im on an intel Macbook thingy and using an Mbox 2 mini.
Pro tools wasnt acting oddly when i last shut it down, nor had it crashed or anything.

...so now Im out of ideas anyway, which is unfortunate because i need PT back pretty urgently.

Sorry, this has probably been brought up a thousand times before.
But Im pretty much pulling my hair out here.

Thankyou!

You're right, this has been brought up a thousand times. The search function is your friend.

Have a look at this thread.

welcome to the DUC. The terms of use state to search before posting to find your answer. Next you should check the threads at the top of the forum. The General Troubleshooting thread and Compatibility thread both hold the answer you're asking for. Your question isn't a stupid question...but it is an unresearched question.

I'll go ahead and help since its your first. I'm assuming you've recently updated your OS (whether you knew it or not). You probably need to download the combo update from apple. You'll also probably need the pace prebinding script. Also, disable the apple software update utility and be cautious of the security updates. Pro Tools does not get along with these updates.

Sorry to be a bother, I was kindof in a panic before.

Cheers.

I can understand that. You weren't a bother, just letting you know...an FYI thing.

Glad to hear you got it working and glad we could help.
