Angry DAE error 9131 and 9060

ok, im not even going to try to express how frustrated i am right now. I recorded about a week ago with the exact same settings and everything, and it worked fine. Now that I finally have time off, I go to record and right when I hit record then play it gives me DAE error 9131. Then it records for less than a second and DAE error 9060 pops up. I know a lot of people have had this problem, but even after taking the advice I've read - no luck. I'm using a digidesign m box 2, with mac os x, version 10.5.8 on pro tools 8. All my tracks get sent to my Maxtor 600 gig external hard drive. I've partioned a drive on it also, of which I'm using for the pro tools tracks. Please help before i break something.

And which advice did you take, exactly? We need to know what you've tried already...

Well, for one, i partitioned space on my hard drive. For some reason people were saying it would be a good idea. They also said to change the volume format to Mac os extended (journaled). I think that's pretty much it. So any advice would be EXTREMELY appreciated!

What are you trying to do.

Basic audio recording, tracking with plugs etc.

What happens if you lose the Maxtor out of the equation, maybe try the internal for a one track session, any better?

just basic audio recording. I've tried recording straight onto my mac, but everytime i do today it says:
"Session must be on an audio record volume. If permitted, set the volume(s) in question to "R" (record) in the Workspace."
It won't even let me open a session knowing it's saving to the internal hd.

The Maxtor is usb.

USB is a big no no because of the way it transfers info, no good for audio, it needs to be firewire. Some of those USB drives go to sleep despite the OSX setting, that will cause hangs.

With regards to workspace, follow this link, easily resolved.

All the best

thank you thank you thank you. This should've been easy, but I'm very new, and sometimes the solution is right in front of me. GAh. Also thanks for the advice on the external hard drive. that would explain all the other problems i've had before.

Thank you all, now I will try to return my head to recording mode, hopefully i have the energy to

Hi,

Do a new partition on the whole drive (using disk utility)
You can create 1 partition only unless you want more partitions.
Use APPLE PARTITION TABLE.
Don´t use GUID partition table, that´s the one causing the problem.
turn spotlight off on the drive in apple system preferences.

Hope this helps.
