Default DIGI 002 Freakin\' Out!

I have been running my digi 002 rack on my G5 Mac (OSX) for the past few months and it has been fine. All of a sudden I am having problems with it. When I turn it on at first it's fine but then it starts flickering and switches on and off periodically. As you all can imagine, this wreaks havoc on my musical creativity!! Sometimes it will happen as soon as I power up and other times it takes 15 minutes or so but it has been consistantly doing this all week. I have pro tools 7.0 which hasn't been giving me any trouble.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?? Power chord?? Computer connection?? It seems like it is an internal thing (power button connection??) but I am kind of at a loss here. Thanks.

Sounds like you have a bit of a internal issue there. By your description it could be a issue with the power harness, or even the power switch itself. You should send it off to be looked at.

Good luck.

Fortunately, it is a design fault and if you get it sent away, digidesign should fix it for you. I had the same problem and it was fixed no charge. Though the disadvantage is, is that you will be without a unit for for a couple of weeks (2 weeks in my case).

Hope it all works out, let me know.

Cheers,

Hands.

The power harness fix is very quick and simple. You'll spend more time unscrewing the 002 than actually replacing the harness, at least on the 002r.

Hi!
I had this issue on my own Digi 002r. It is very easy to fix it by your self. All you need is a screwdriver and a can of a really good, non-lubricant, contact-spray. Unplug DIGI from AC, open it and disconnect the harness (thick wires connected to PSU). Spray on every contact and plug and unplug for few times. Then plug it all in again and wait untill all the liquit has dried out. Now you should have your DIGI-002r back in business... And of course you put the "lid" on again

I did this to mine and since then everything works perfectly... even my Wrangler!!

Awesome. Thanks for all the input.

As far as Digi fixing the harness for me - will they still take care of it even if I am passed my warranty period??

They do I believe. Mine was over a year, I had the same problem, and they took care of me.
All I did was call them and they know what you're talking about, they'll send what you need to replace and fix the problem.
Is fast and simple.
