I What are the TRUE benifits to upgrading (crossgrading?) to the "Mix Only" version of ProTools 6.4?

Good question. My 6.2.3 with Panther and Mix+(not supported) was great and really stable....

I am not using the 6.4.1 update with my mix system and it runs fine.
MY IS NOT!!!

My advice is... if s/ware works, THAN pay!

I'll never buy a software before testing!

Never ever...

To much headache.

New MAC, new s/ware, all works perfectly in 9.2.2.

Support?

As you can see...

Arghhhhh....

Started to check it thorough in hope that it is my fault. Checked all cables again and again.

"DIGITest" showing my both cards.

Digidesign CoreAudio Setup gives me that message:

"Unable to locate any Digidesign hardware. Check all connections and re-launch this app."

So it is not my fu^%up or lack of knowledge, or bad will, or faulty hardware.

S/ware are still not compatible with 888/24 Mix+.

Any idea DIGI???

I'm not digi support but I must say your posts are quite confusing. I can't tell whether your on a Mac or a PC. You do understand that they use different software right? I'm on Mix hardware and there has never been any confusion on this site about 6.4 being HD only. If someone said that to you they should give you a refund, digi has never said that as far as I know. When 6.4 was announced it said that a Mix only version was due out later and that 6.4 would NOT run on Mix hardware. It looks like some folks have actually gotten it to work?? But while I'm willing to test out "untested/ not certified" configurations I won't be going out and running a version that they say WONT run on my hardware.
You say you have a Mix+, what's the +? Is it a Mix farm card or an older Farm Card? that may be your problem.
Maybe I'm being unfair but it appears that you never bothered to read any of the system requirements or manuals or announcements and now your pissed because things didn't go smoothly and you want to blame Digi for oversights on YOUR part.
It's NOT Digi's fault that you bought software that they said would not run on your hardware and then BIG SURPRISE it DIDN'T run on your hardware. God knows what other wanky stuff is going on in your system because you installed stuff you shouldn't. But hey lets blame Digi. Digi gets enough grief (deserved) for things they screw up with out having to take grief because people can't bother to read.

I thought that my English is bad.

I've put it very clear in my post, that I'm running G4 (obviously MAC to my knowledge), MIX 24+
and MAC OS 10.3.2.

Also, in manual of PT 6.4 is clearly written, that 6.4 version IS compatible with 888/24 and MIX cards.

On box I have purchased, the sticker says - PT TDM v6.4 MAC/WIN Upgrade.

So it's not labeled as HD and no wonder that DIGI expert in shop has advised me to buy that version for my MIX 24+.

Also, I have updated from 6.4 to version 6.4.1 and despite DIGI assurances, my hardware is not detected by DIGI s/ware.

Whichever way I look at it, it's a DIGI fault!

And because I'm not ordering a new HD system, they don't care!!!

I didn't know you could run Win XP on a G4 and I'm not sure changing the Motherboard would help. SO despite your professions there is at least one Win system in this post. I'll grant you that Digi has created some confusion by referring to HD systems as TDM (which they are). I don't have the manual so can't comment sounds questionable though since from the gitgo 6.4 was not going to run on MIX hardware???

And excuse me but in the statment below what is "the same hardware" that your running on? Your talking about Win XP and then say your running fine under OS 9,2.2 "on the same hardware". So are you running Win on a G4 or OS9 on the MSI??

Quote:
Story continues…
I had a lot of problems installing PT 5.3.1 (Win XP) on MSI motherboard with VIA chipset KT600. No info on your web site about any problems with compatibility.

Of course PT5.1.3 on OS 9.2.2 are running fine on the same hardware.

After few weeks fighting client was able to d/load PT 6.4 for Win XP and that we still had a crash while loading DAE!

My client (And a friend.) was devastated so I swapped his new mobo with mine (KT 400 6 months old) and PT are running sweet.

IMHO all of this sux in the huge way.

Are you getting all the new features? The ones not in 6.4.1?
I'm surprised since they have made such a stink about it not working with MIX.

No ADC
No Rec Enable on the fly.

Yes Plug-Ins in folders.

Yes +12dB mixer.

Yes Command8.

That's all I wanted.

ADC would be nice, but I have learned to keep mixes lean nenough that I have enough DSP for TimeAdjuster.

Same Hardware probably refered to the ProTools hardware, not necessarily the computer. It is possible to have Mix+ and 888|24 on Mac and Windows.

Sounds like the same features as 6.4.1. Do you have any problems with opening old sessions? There seem to be some issues with 6.4.1 that were fixed in 6.4 CS8 that didn't make it into 6.4.1. One is the trashing of automation when opening old sessions.
