Default Looking for a good Mic at a modest price

I know Behringer has a tendancy of borrowing specs from big name companies. Does anyone know any good things about the B2? Lists for about 200$us.

I also read good things about the Nady SCM-100. Anyone using it? I'm looking for a good quality vocal mic to replace my Rode NT-1 going into a Focusrite Penta.

Obviously it has to be better than the NT-1 so please give me something I can work with and it doesn't have to be the ones I brought up.

Thanks

citi

NTK, AT4050, AT4033, AKG c3000, Studioprojects C3...there's lots of 'em. What's your budget and what do you want it for?

I noticed the Baby Blue coming down in price. This is an excellent Mic. The guys at GC put it up in their Mixer room just hanging from the ceiling and recorded a singer with his acoustic, the sound was amazing.

Studio Projects C1. I would buy one on word-of-mouth alone. I keep hearing fantastic things about it. And of course, the NTK.

Citi,
I use both the NTK and the NT1 along with a new Soundelux U99. The U99 gives a big warm smoothness to male vocals. The NTK has more brightness than the U99 capturing the top end a little better, but not as big and smooth. The NT1 is the brightest and least warm of the two, but warmer than alot of the lower end mics on the market. Going from the NT1 to the NTK was a huge jump in quality to me, and going from the NTK to the U99 was almost as big. I was told by a Rode dealer that the Studio Projects T3 is an incredible deal as well and liked it better than the NTK or C1 for male vocals. You just need to find one that matches your voice, purpose, room and preamp. etc..
Good luck.
Allen

I’d recommend the Studio Projects C1 as the all-purpose large diaphragm, side address cardiod condenser.

The law of diminishing returns basically forced me to but two of these microphones, which I estimate are 90% of a U87.

how is the C1 on male and female vocs? Usually mics favor gender.
