Upgrade from PT 11 to 11 HD

Hi there

I recently bought a high end third party audio interface. Now I want to do surround mixes. As we know, PT 11 doesn't support this. Can I crossgrade from PT 11 to PT 11 HD and how much does it cost? I did'nt find a clear answer to this question, that's why I post this here.

11HD is officially only available with Avid HD or HD Native hardware. You can't buy only the software officially.

The Complete Toolkit won 't work in PT11. Only PT8 thru PT10. If he's on 11 and wants those features he needs to go HD.

Funny I was just about to post the same question.

From my understanding one can buy the CPTK for PT 10 and then upgrade to PT 11 HD...

The problem is that No one seems to sell the CPTK anymore. I saw a posting on eBay but missed that opportunity.

This really makes not much sense to me...I am slowly moving over to PT from Nuendo and already have great hardware I have no need to get new hardware but want to be able to take advantage of the HD features.

Is there an official statement from Avid anywhere? I have only found the thread that deals with users that already own the pt 10 cptk...

I'm not sure which official statement you're looking for. Avid made the official statement that the CPTK was discontinued at the time of Protools 11 release. Since it was discontinued, no Avid authorized dealer could continue selling it. As far as I know, they are not blocking existing owners from selling and transferring the Ilok license to other people, but most people who own it are probably using it to get the special upgrade to HD11, which means they have to surrender it, so they don't own it anymore to be able to sell it.

I know for a fact that you can use an HD license with non-HD hardware. Apparently you cannot buy HD without also buying HD hardware, or upgrading from another version of HD or CPTK.

The third Question on the FAQ states you can use 3rd party software with HD and that they are committed to supporting it, yet they won't let you buy the software... this really does not make any sense to me.
I found a few full blown PT 10/11 HD licenses on ebay but since avid is not selling it I am worried that they won't honor them...

yeah, I'm also a little stuck here... I thought Avid took the step to allow third party hardware but if I want to do a surround mix I still have to buy HD hardware?!
