Re: CPTK gone in PT11 - Upgrade to PTHD11?
Quote:
Yes, you can use any CoreAudio or ASIO interface with HD11, no problem. However, if you want to actually mix in surround, keep in mind that your interface will need to have enough outputs to use for that (6 outputs for 5.1, or 8 outputs for 7.1). Plus the appropriate monitors/speakers so you can actually monitor. Also, depending on your interface, you may need a surround monitor controller. Or, far easier, just use an interface that allows you to assign the volume/monitor control to various output combinations, such as the Mbox 3 Pro, Focusrite Saffire Pro 40/56, or Scarlett 18i20, Apogee Quartet and Ensemble, and some others. You may already know all this if you've already been using the CPTK. |

The plan is to buy HDX or at least Native hardware as soon as budget permits, but it's great that we don't have to wait for that to start using 11. Yup, monitoring is covered with an SPL2408, but I always appreciate suggestions of alternatives I may not have considered. Thanks! |

Yeah, you have to wait for other things, like a fix for all the important bugs we beta testers (AKA regular paying customers) are discovering right now, and lots of 3rd party plugin manufacturers releasing versions for PT11. You might have the money you need before all that happens...

Re: CPTK gone in PT11 - Upgrade to PTHD11?
V5V,
If you are pretty sure you will go with an HD system, you might be closer than you think. You will get a new HD11 and HD10 license with a new HD Native (or HDX system). Instead of buying the CPTK and PT10 upgrade, you could sell the PT10 license, sell the CPTK license, sell the monitor controller, then add the $599 you would pay for the upgrade, and you may be able to scrounge up the rest to get an HD Native/Omni system. Dealers can give further discounts on these. And if you have a 002/003 or Mbox 2 Pro to trade in, that would make it even cheaper. |

What is the best way to contact Avid outside the US.? I am currently in Thailand. Calling might not be practical. From what I know I need to pay $20 for the Service Transfer/Replacement Fee which I can download online. Is that all I need? . Thanks for help! |

Hopefully Avid hasn't extended their reach with buying Euphonix and now is having finical trouble. This would be a heartbreak.

Re: CPTK gone in PT11 - Upgrade to PTHD11?
Just go through all recent threads and you'll see at least 3 important ones. The two that bother me the most (and should bother everyone) are:
1) Several cases of PT11 placing regions incorrectly in timeline after recording (e.g. you can record your own monitors with a click and can sound late when played back). 2) Several reports of offline bounce doing strange things or ignoring automation. Right now, I'm way far from being confortable with the idea of using PT11 (at least without HDX hardware) for production-level work, and that is really sad. I really hope they can fix things properly soon, but I definitely prefere having to wait a while for a proper fix than having a quick semi-tested patch on what is supposed to be a clear rewrite of a great application. For the moment being, my PT10/CPTK/Super Powerful Computer combo is working wonderfully. Yes, I'd like to be able to go 64 bit and get many of the things that PT11 is suppossedly offering, but I'll just wait. And this is the first time I decide to wait, I've always got the latest PT version as soon as it's on the store. Francisco
