Default record to internal drive

Hi,

I have a new setup with a Powerbook an FW 410. Although I have an external USB-drive, I will often have to record to my internal drive for portability-reasons.
I am wondering if I should make a separate audio-partition on my internal harddrive, and what would be the best way to go about that.
Does anyone have experience with this ?

Thanks a lot ! Dennis
