PT12 subscription - no v11 or v10

Avid is famous for making the strangest pricing decisions. I get that to guarantee cash flow and keep the company afloat. But this one makes absolutely no sense.

I finally bit the bullet and signed up for the yearly subscription plan for Pro Tools v12. However, I contacted support to find out where I can download the older versions v11 or v10, and they told me I can't .... WHAT ???

What is the reason behind that? Can they force me to cough up more money by prohibiting that? Does the privilege to download previous version only come with the $1,000/year subscription of PT | HD?

A lot of schools, institutions and especially individuals stay on earlier PT versions so what do I have pay to get those versions another $25/month for PT b11 and another $25/month for PR v10?

Anybody has an explanation for that

That's what I did. I contacted support they told me that previous versions of PT 12 are not included in the subscription plan.

Unless you have an email for a reasonable support line.

IIRC, subscription only gets the current license, but people with a perpetual license get 10, 11 and 12.

Wow, Avid must have a an entire department that dreams up those nonsense rules. Of course, older copies only for perpetual license, that makes sense - NOT
Some beancounter must have done the math (most likely fuzzy match) and figured out that this would boost the Avid revenue stream by $48.27/year, so why not implement it.

Annual plan PT 12 non HD has PT10/11/12
Support plan HD 12 also has PT 10/11/12

Subscription monthly only has PT12 current version.

I reslly don't understand that move either but unfortunately this is what it is

Maybe that's what is going on at Avid. Someone makes a decision that absolutely makes no sense at all, but nobody dares to challenge it and call BS on that.
