Default Try saving the PT Reference guide to your desktop.

A long weekend of mixing prompted me to save the PT Reference Guide to the desktop so I could keep the icon peeking over the corner of the PT window.

But it wouldn't let me. Something about a permission error. Is it just my OS or is Digi being really protective of this manuscript?

Get Info on the PDF file and check your permissions.

Go to your Applications\Digidesign\Documentation\Pro Tools folder and find the document named Pro Tools Reference Guide.pdf (in 6.7) or PT Reference Guide.pdf (6.4 and earlier).

You can do a Save a Copy in Acrobat, but it would be easier to do the following:

1 - Highlight the PDF
2 - Command+L = Make Alias
3 - Drag the alias to your desktop

Or eliminate a step:

1 - Highlight the PDF
2 - Drag the alias to your desktop while holding down Command+Option keys

That will create an alias with the original file name, without "alias" in the file name, since you are putting it in a different location than the original.

The second method works well in Icon View or Column View, but is sometimes hard to do in List View.
