MIDI Recording with Punch in's & out's - Clip Indicators
In the olden days. When I use to punch in on a MIDI or Instrument track, while recording. There use to be a new clip line, just like punching in on an audio clip. Now when I punch in, it's just a seamless MIDI file, with no indication where I punched in & out. [screen shot-below] of old project from about five years ago. This is what I want again!
I've spent time in the pref's to see what's different now. Can't find anything. Any guidance most appreciated. Been in PT's land since 1995. |

MIDI Recording with Punch in's & out's - Clip Indicators
Hello Rono
I thought this might have something to do with merge since that’s what happens when merging, but It appears this behavior has been changed. Search for MIDI merge in Pro Tools help and read up on the topic of “Recording Over Existing MIDI Clips”. The only workaround I see for you is to delete the portion of the existing clip that you want punched in over and when you record, it will create a new clip in the hole.
