And I'm pretty sure spk was only telling you that your comparison is like comparing an apple to an orange. They're completely different programs. No need to be rude.
I hope he doesn't need help with a real issue one day...he might have burnt that bridge...

What an unusual amount of grumpiness! I think I understand the issue, it's been reported before.

The window handling system changed with 7.0 - previously the minimize/maximize/close controls were far more discrete, and less of Pro Tools' otherwise feature-packed screen was taken up with a (mostly) useless OS screen title bar.

This old method of handling the mix and edit screens would seem to have been an issue for Digidesign and it was explained at the time that there was some keenness to fix it as it affected other display issues (and possibly was an impediment to recallable Window Configurations).

This thread *here* contains a response from Digidesign explaining the behaviour.

And it is a genuine issue, but probably only in comparison. On a 1280x800 laptop it bothered the hell out of me until I realised it wasn't going to change and I had to put up with it and enjoy all the other functions instead...

The OP was also talking about the "big red x" which means the standard XP theme is being used. One thing you can do to make that bar a little smaller is to change your windows theme to classic mode. It was one of the things that was recommended early on when the computers weren't as powerful as they are today, and turning off the standard XP big cartoon theme saved just a smidge of CPU/memory. It's not really necessary these days with the powerhouse PCs most people are using, but I've been in the habit of using the classic theme all these years (I honestly hate the cartoony one and never use it on any of my PCs), so I've always got it set that way.

It does, however, give you back some of the "screen real-estate" that the cartoony XP theme eats up. Just something else to consider.

One other thing I'd like to mention; I've always hated the way Pro Tools child windows have been "locked" inside the main program window.

I wasn't trying to be rude. Just joking around.
Perhaps I should have put a smiley face on it.
Looks like Scorpio253 got it. He put a LOL on his post.
All it was, was just a joke.
Seems like people are getting a bit hyper sensitive.

I don't think this would have been mistaken as being rude had I not put the last line "Thanks for telling me" in there. Because clearly up to that point there was not a hint of any rudeness there.

I have learned to deal with it but true multimoniter support (with a Pref box for "Classic window behavior" would be good)
