003 Restarts when opening ProTools

I'm running LE, and this is an interesting problem. I have an external FireWire drive daisychained through my 003, and every so often when I start ProTools, usually after editing in Melodyne for a while but not always, the unit will restart and as a result eject the FW drive. It also then requires a relaunch of PT because it gives me a "Lost Communication with 003" message.

This ejecting and restarting process, when it does occur, happens when "Initializing Machine Control" appears on the PT splash screen. What might my issue be here?

I'm running PT LE 8.0.5 on a MacBook Pro mid-2010 model, 2.53 Ghz Core i5 with 8GB of RAM, with a 003R hooked up through FW (8-pin to 6-pin cable) and my FW drive chained to the 003 (a 1TB G-Drive with the Oxford Chipset)
