Default Zoom H4 as input device? (from a noobie)

Hi all,
Does anyone know if we can use a Zoom H4 or similar as an input for protools LE?

The Zoom says it can be used as an audio interface and comes bundled with cubase. The reviews say it works with just about whatever your favourite DAW is. I've been using it a lot round the house and as a room mic for stuff. It is always out, so I would love to be able to just plug the usb cable in and record straight to a protools session. Otherwise I either have to import all my data from the Zoom or get mics out to record thru the 002.

I could just use the Zoom analogue outputs, but in the future I can see myself using the Zoom as a room mic for drums and it would be nice if it could be used without taking up an input on the 002, thus buying me an extra couple of inputs.

Is it possible to use the Zoom, or will protools only recognize protools hardware even when I'm using the 002?

My specs: DIGI002 & PC (Q9300, GA-G33M-DS2R).

Pro Tools will only recognize Digidesign hardware as I/O. You will not be able to use the Zoom as input for Pro Tools. You can use it in another program (such as Cubase) and then import it into Pro Tools, but not directly.

Thanks for the fast reply. What a drag - I was hoping the 002 would act as a dongle and everything would work. Seems to me that as long as the 002 is there then there's no reason for Digidesign to restrict your other choices. But that's the way they do stuff I guess.
