Default 003 Midi Mode.......Third Party Apps!

How in the hell did I miss this, are they slowly releasing more info about the 003.
You can download a firmware update for the 003 to control any other third party programs....DP,Logic,Sonar,Nuendo..... and programs like Reason.....SO NOW, the hardware is not just ProTools only AND get this IT DOES NOT WORK FOR THE 002, Now I really feel left out......

...bastards!!!

Actually, this is a realy significant new feature. It makes the 003 much better than the 002 in this respect. It was kind of lame that such a nice MIDI controller was effectively useless with other programs. This does now fill that hole.

In general, I feel that the 'additions' in the 003 basically makes the 002 what it should always have been, in the same way that the MBox 2 did with the MBox. It's not a world-beater, but it tidys up an already pretty successful product.

It's the next rung on the ladder that I think will be the real jaw-dropper.

Peace

Sonny

Just curious as to how long it'll be until the 002 is no longer supported (like the 001 ending at 6.4) and we HAVE to get an 003 if we want any upgrades????

The reason support for the 001 was dropped is because it physically doesn't work on any of the newest macs; there is a hardware compatibility problem with the PCI card. This was discussed way back when it happened, but everyone seems to have forgotten.

The 002 and 002r don't suffer from this problem and should be supported for a long time to come.

We've also discussed this in several different 003 threads (there are, sadly, so many of them...), and even had a quote from the Digidesign marketing team in one of them.

That sure would be nice if they added that capability to the Digi 002, if that could be done through a firmware update of course. I guess I shouldn't hold my breath though, eh?
