Default Drawing Waveforms

When I use the pencil tool to draw waveforms, I find that the program sometimes redraws them the second I unclick the tool. The revise is always away from higher frequencies and sudden changes in amplitude - an averaging out of sorts. Is there any way to get the program to leave the waves exactly as I want them?
