Default Disabling PCI Parity

Hi everyone! New user here. I am just setting up my 001 and have an ASUS CUSL2-C, PC133, AGP 4X motherboard. Does anyone out there know if it is possible to disable PCI parity on this beast? Apparently (per the 001 manual) PCI parity checking slows down the PCI bus and probalbly also the recording process. There is a few PCI related options in the BIOS but none of them are related (as far as I can tell) to PCI parity. I want to optimize my sytem for the 001 as much as possible before I start recording. Thanx in advance for any help! T-Man

T-Man,
I hate to tell a new guy to ignore the manual, but do. PCI parity is part of the PCI spec and should be left turned on. It does not slow PCI transfers.

I beleive that manual actually says it's OK to leave it turned on if your machine doesn't have a way to turn it off, and I think that most of us running here have PCI parity enabled. (I can turn it off, I just don't.)

Go have some fun!! ;-)

Take care,
Mark

The only problem I've ever heard about from leaving PCI parity enabled is that the system will not boot at all with the Digi 001 installed in a PCI slot. I read that information somewhere either on Digidesign's Website, or here on the DUC a while ago.

So, if your PC boots up don't worry about PCI parity.

I haven't seen anyone with an ASUS motherboard that would allow them to disable PCI parity. I would however disable it if it were available, on the assumption that the start up guide is correct. I haven't had any problems without disabling PCI parity and I do have an ASUS motherboard
