Default Legacy Interface and HD

Hi,

A little help please !

I've just bought a HD1 Accel PCIe system with 2 x 192 I/O interfaces.

I have the 2nd 192 I/O connected via the expansion port on the 1st 192 I/O and now I woud like to connect a Mix system 888/24 interface to add an extra 8 inputs.

Problem is, using only one HD PCIe card seems to only allow me to select either the expansion or the legacy connector on the back, and when I click the 2nd 192 I/O in the peripherals menu in harware setup, the option to select expansion or legacy disappears !

I suppose it makes sense to only be able to select either expansion or legacy per PCIe card, but please someone tell me I don't need another process card to make use of this interface!

Having spent what I have, I can't really afford to buy another HD A/D card for my second 192 to push up the inputs (I have 16 inputs via the 2 192s and one is fitted with a HD A/D input expansion card giving me another 8) and I was hoping to use the spare 888 I have as a temporary fix !

Not the end of the world, but sure would be handy to have the extra 8.

P.S Wouldn't it be cool if Digidesign released an insert box for PT allowing you to insert pre amps, comps, gates etc without tying up your inputs/outputs !

It could have aux sends too for FX returns/monitor mixes etc

For us outboards freaks that like to use components rather than software when it comes to dynamics etc.

It would almost be the final step in removing the need to use a console !! (Apart from the obvious!)

In a way!

Its late and maybe I'm just talking Cr@p !!

M

You need an extra Accel card to do that, sorry.

Oh- PCI-e!
For anyone with a similar situation but using PCI-x then probably a HD (non accel) card would work. Cheap on EBay. There is risk of loss on EBay, but there are enough HD cards floating through there that you could probably find a safe deal(research Ebay risks thoroughly first).
