Default Known issues with FW drives and PT6

I've just recently made the jump to OSX Jaguar from 9.2.2 and I'm wondering if there are some known issues with external FW drives and PT6.x. I've done all of the updates and am having some weird things happen. I was recording a radio spot the other night and kept getting that increase hardware buffer size...... error crap when trying to record. It was strange because I've never had a problem with my setup before. I'm using an OWC 80 gig external FW drive withe the Oxford 911 chipset. The session only had 4 tracks and no plug-ins so it's not like I had a bunch of stuff going on. A co-worker of mine was also having some issues with his external FW drive and PT6. He can't even get a session to run off of his drive period. If there are any issues, please let me know, because if there are that would really suck. The whole idea of having an external FW drive is so you can run the sessions directly off of them. Never had any problems in OS9, if this continues, I'll just go back to OS9 when everyting seemed to work how it should. If anybody has any input, it would be greatly appreciated.

Where- if your out there, I could use your help.

If You haven't already, i suggest you format the drive with osx disk utility and see if that does the trick! It I remember, I had to
repartition the drive and format in osx to run the drives error free.

i don't remember how it was in jaguar, but with 10.3.4 and 6.4 combination there doesn't seem to be any major problems. be sure to have your hard drives on different buss than your audio interface, because having the both in the same firewire buss will reduce performance as the audio collides with itself going back and forth.

(and i mean different buss, not just different ports. at least these current powerbooks have fw400 and fw800 ports but the both share the same firewire buss. bigger powerbooks have the cardbus slot which can be used to have another firewire buss to the system, and for a powermac one can always add another pci card to have another firewire buss. no luck for 12" powerbook or the i-line of apples.)

I'm using an mbox so there shouldn't be any issues with the firewire buss, but I'll try partitioning my drive and reformatting to see if that helps, thanks guys. I'll probably get panther and update my PT also.
thanks again guys

we switch between PT5 and PT6 (OS9/OSX Panther) and have had no issues with our FW drives.

Thanks Where,

I think I'll just upgrade to Panther and see if that helps any.
