Default Goodbye Mac???

Hello Fellow Mac Users:

IF Apple has declared OS X their DEFAULT OS on all new Macs...

AND

IF Digidesign's new PT/HD does not support OS X (or Dual Processors)...

AND

IF Digidesign has declared WAV as the new PT/HD file format..

is Digidesign (ultimately) saying "Goodbye Mac"?

Best Regards

Only if Digi is interested in dedicating their efforts to the 3 people out there that run PT systems on WinNT.

I believe all new Macs come with OS X installed, but also comes with an OS 9.2 cd that you can install.

i don't think so. We'd be fools to think that Digi isn't working on ProTools X right now. Just look at the number of posts in the PT windows section compared to the mac section. Nobody is using PT on a windows system.

well if digi does that I'm going to be very p**ss**d at them .... because we pro controllers were at least 7 in asking for the trim / scrub feature and were told we just weren't numerous enough to do that .....

btw .... 3 on Win NT ..... Geeezzzz ..... guess their NT release was a success afterall .....

The most recent attempt by Steve Jobs to change the face of Apple and "the world" does not dictate the developement timeline of Digi. Both Apple and Digi have a long history of staying completely quiet about big changes until they are released. Just because OSX is the default OS for Mac doesn't mean that Digi has not been working on going along with this.

Think about it. There is NO NEW SOFTWARE for the new Digi hardware. Just another update. My guess is that the energies of software developement have been going into PT6 for OSX and a co-developed version for OS9. If they were bailing on Mac and OSX, there wouldn't be the co-developement (w/ Apple) of the OMS replacement written into OSX, as well as all the other audio integrations in the mentioned OS.

Or I could be completely wrong and Digi is going to start making 2" machines.

If digi was going windows, don't you think they would have released a windows version of PTHD or5.3 at the same time as the MAC version. There is no reason to think that digi will turn there backs on the MAC.

I figure when Apple introduces the G5 (3rd Q) Digi will have new software.

I saw a message from a Digi rep that stated WinXP and MacOSX support is on its way.
