Default Will DigiTranslator ever be available

Hey,

Maybe this question is naive but I haven't found anything in the forums to suggest that it's been answered. Will Pro Tools M-Powered ever come with (or have available) DigiTranslator 2.0? Are there any plans from DigiDesign to make this useful tool available for M-Powered systems? I see that it is available with the Academic version of Pro Tools M-Powered, but NOT with the 'regular vanilla' version.

Most other DAWs have the ability to export and import sessions to and from other DAWs via the OMF/AAF files. It would be nice for PTMP7 to have this feature too. Although I am aware of how to work around this short coming of PTMP7 (consolidate files, export etc...) it would be nice to have OMF/AAF support as well.

If anyone knows anything about the possibility of OMF/AAF support and PTMP7 please let me know.

Take care,

David Bonser

Hmmm...the response is deafening. I'm actually being really serious here...it would be a great idea (read: ESSENTIAL) to have OMF/AAF support as standard in ALL vesions of ProTools. Surely it can't be that big a deal to include. I still don't understand why it had to be omitted in the first place. Every other DAW company barely rate OMF import capabilities as a feature...it is SO standard. C'mon Digi/Avid...it's your protocol afterall!!

Kind of lame that the Edu version of PTMP has it.

Yeah, I thought the same thing DUCHUNTER! I still fail to see why the feature isn't standard. It's a very strange omission for M-powered - and only those of us who have to PAY FULL RETAIL and aren't fortunate enough to qualify for the EDU package. Strange.
