No Audio, But Just Samples. System Drive Or Seperate Drive.
Built another PT setup at work which I will just use for VIs (no live Audio, or very little). This system uses standard HDDs. Should I leave my samples on the System Drive, or put both the Audio and Samples on the second drive? These VIs may be streaming lots of samples and using lots of effects. A third drive is NOT an option in this setup.
What would you recommend?

My 2 cents' worth would be, put the samples on your second drive. That way if you have a system crash you still don't lose your samples.
Now, I must ask...if it's a penny for your thoughts but you put in your TWO cents' worth, isn't someone doubling their money????? |

If it's very little audio, you might be okay, but combining audio and sample streaming on the same drive is definitely not recommended.

I have given up trying to balance these choices since expanding VI usage and have gone with a separate sample drive for the past couple of years, and have much better results.

-I know its not recommended, I'm just interested. Mike.
