Version 6.4.1 TDM Frustrations

So, I did a complete clean re-install of Mac OSX 10.3.4 on my MAC.
Them I installed Protools 6.0 TDM - which doesn't run on 10.3.4, near as I can tell.
Bought the 6.4.1 TDM upgrade from the Digidesign site and installed that.
Ran Digitest and all my cards passed
(MIX - D24 - MIX I/O - 3 DSP FARMS)
Protools 6.4.1 TDM still doesn't run ... I get a generic alert stating that the app has "unexpectedly quit".

What, pray tell, is the problem.

Incidentally, 6.4LE runs fine on this system, but I want TDM if I can have it.

Meanwhile, it's back to 5.1.1 for me.

Just a thought… do you have LE installed on the system when you install the TDM version? The two cannot coexist. (Apologies if this is redundant.)

Indeed. You can't have both TDM and LE on the same operating system/partition. 6.4.1 TDM runs just fine for me on 10.3.8.

You might have to do another clean install to get rid of all the hidden files PT puts everywhere. The un-install option has never worked for me. I suggest using Carbon Clone Copy to backup your clean install of OSX before you install PT. That way you don't have to waste hours reinstalling osx all the time

This may totally be obvious but I'll add it since a lot of people still don't do it. Did you repair permissions? Without fail if I don't do that after any install things will be so unstable. Once I run that, everything's fine.

derF is correct - you'll need to run the uninstallers for both Pro Tools LE and Pro Tools TDM, then restart and reinstall just the TDM version. Having both LE and TDM components installed will cause all kinds of problems.
