Default GUYS mexican or japanese fender!!! ur opinions

Hey,
I am going to buy a fender 1972 custom re-issue telecaster ive always wanted one so i thought what the hell and they get really good reviews but what one do i go for i have the option of the japanese one or the mexican one japanese is slightly more expensive buy about 20 quid or so. Can you tell me your experinces or opinions i know there are some real good players here i can try out the mexican one no problem but i cant get to the japanese one i have to ship it in and they are the only people who do them so its a bit of a dilema if you see what i mean. Thanks guys for your help.

The clear choice between a Mexican made Fender and a Japanese made Fender is an American made Fender.

If you're buying new...I don't know. If you're hunting for used stuff:

A 1982 Jap Fender IS basically a 1972 american...all the old tooling and equipment was shipped to the Japan factories when the american factories were re-outfitted in the very early eighties.

If I was you.I would play all the Mexican ones you can, until you find one that is suitable for you. With the Jap one that you have to order, what you get is what you are stuck with.If you play a lot of Mexican ones you can probably find a half ways decent one.

Why won't you gig with a 70's Strat? They are not that valuable. And you probably should find out what year your "70's something Strat" really is.Most players know every little detail about their axes, down to which Fender employee assembled it.

Check this site out for Fender serial numbers, so you can date your Strat exactly. vintage info

We have both a Mexican stra and P-bass. You need to check out a bunch of them, as the quality control varies greatly, but it is possible to find a good one. Since these instruments sell for such shrot money the ar egenerally nto setup, action, neck intonation, so you'll need to be able to do this yourself aa well.

I have a Mexican Tele...not really an impressive instrument.
It was an impulse buy....and I love the look of a Tele!

I don't know about a japanese, but the mexican tele I have..the quality is not really there.

I'm not a big fan of the 70's tele's but then again I'm a pure strat fan. I'm not really a vintage strat fan either - you really need to find 'the one' otherwise they don't realy sound that good. I'll take the 50th Anniversary issue over most vintage strats.
