I am not sure if your laptop has the fw800 port that is on the newer macbook pros, but if it does and you have the lacie connected to it while your interface is connected to the fw400 port, that could be the cause of the problem. The ports share a bus and having 2 different speed devices connected causes issues for some people.

It has both of those ports but I still get the same problem even if the only device attached to the machine (bar a USB mouse and the PT dongle) is the firewire solo.
It's frustrating as I can't use the RTAS engine to do it's job and add realtime effects as the CPU usage is so high even before they are used. |
